New underwear

So I'm test driving new underwear all this week. I bought four new styles from LaSenza and now I'm putting them through the paces.

Testing what they look like under yoga pants.
Checking to see if they make my butt look lumpy under nice pants.
Making sure the lace isn't itchy.
Worrying about wedgies.

The usual. Ladies know what I'm talking about. Men are laughing.
Now my question is - why do we go through all this trouble?

One pair has passed all tests. Three more to go. BLURGH.

Thanks to Steve (i.e. Shorty)!

Ms. Julie does Global TV

Now if you missed Ms. Julie being interviewed by Jamie Orchard on Global TV this past Friday, November 14, here is the link.

I... she... we are on during the last 10 minutes. Having watched myself on screen (with the volume turned way down), I must admit that my resemblance to TFey is astonishing. If only Tina knew...

Tina Fey and Sarah Palin on SNL

Check out more Saturday Night Live clips here. If you want to reach about how NBC innovated with the creation of Hulu, read the Wired article here. To complain that Hulu can only be streamed in the United States? Turn to your pet, spouse, or favourite potted plant.

My appearance on 30 Rock

All summer long, I've been sending vibes out into the universe to suggest that Tina Fey write a Single-White-Female-themed episode in which she is stalked by moi. As I have yet to receive a phone call from my cosmic BFF, I give you a 30 Rock update instead:

Season Three debuts on October 30 at 9:30 p.m.

Blake Lively and Leighton Meester from my secret-shame must-watch GossipGirl will be making a cameo this season to reveal Liz Lemon's unsavoury past.

Season Two on DVD is available for sale on October 7.

Enough said. I must go back to sitting by the phone. I'm waiting, Tina!

Adriana Palanca is scary.

I've been dealt something that I don't know how to deal with. It's laughable, but I really can't understand how these circumstances came to be. Don't laugh, but there are people out there who find me intimidating. And no, I'm not being paranoid. I have proof - testimonials even.

In my head, I'm a coward. I never speak when I should. I never say what I really mean. And I certainly don't ever ask for what I want. So how could I possibly be intimidating to anyone?

Some day I'm going to be like a Tegan & Sara song. Heart on my sleeve. Unapologetic. Fiercely asking to be loved unconditionally. Unafraid. Speaking the truth always and crisply.

But until then, my mock reign of terror continues.

Boo!

En passant, I nearly peed in my pants yesterday watching Tina Fey eat a whole sandwich in real time on 30 Rock. Check out the video - it's easily one of my favourite moments in television. I don't think she's chewing.

Photo shoot: Day 3

The original casting call asked for "Tina Fey meets Amelie Poulain meets Maggie Gyllenhaal". Frankly, if anyone else bagged the role, I would have been ruffled in the feelings department.

When I sat down to the first interview, they asked me why I was auditioning. I replied with a little swirl of the hand around my face and said, "Heeelllooo?" How could they deny my Tina-ness?

Tonight we took the last set of photos for the advertising campaign. It's been a pleasure and a delight from start to finish. The only aspect that's been somewhat surreal is being on the other end of the creative stick.

In my non-supermodel job, working on creative concepts for advertising campaigns is par for the course. Although my opinion was solicited on some aspects of this campaign, for the most part, most decisions were made without my input.

How many buttons to unbutton? The board had already decided.
Will she speak with a little accent? The board has spoken!
Does this show too much leg? Board says yes!

My only big decision was whether I was thirsty or not.

The fruits of all my supermodel labour will be premiering in a week or two. Keep an eye on this space.

Heard on 30 Rock

The funniest thing ever written, and uttered by Kenneth Parcell, the perfect NBC page:

“Mr. Lutz. You ate all my parakeet’s medication, and thanks to you, Sonny Crockett has been having seizures all morning."

Oh Tina, let's be friends!

I dream of Tina

I love that I look like Tina Fey.

I never get tired of hearing it. It's high flattery in my world. Who wouldn't want to be compared to one of the funniest, most talented women on television? My dream is to be discovered and have TF ask me to be on an episode of 30 Rock written as a comedic spin-off of "Single White Female". Maybe I would take her Princess Leia action figure hostage. I wonder if they would make me a veggie dog on set? Would I be able to make out with Jason Sudeikis?

So when I watched season one on DVD, I was shocked/thrilled to discover that not only did Liz Lemon and I dress in ways similar - and sport similar glasses - but we also spoke in words similar.

Things that TF 's character have said that could have come out of my mouth OR
things said to TF's character that could have been said about me:
  • "I hate the word 'lovers'. Unless it's between the words 'meat' and 'pizza'."
  • Cerie "'Cause sometimes you have, like, food stains on your shirt and stuff. I just assumed that it was kids."
  • "I'm gonna go talk to some food about this."
  • Gray "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! Look, I meant what I said earlier. You are a Hair, Liz Lemon. It's in our blood. Accept it. Embrace it."
  • "Ah, well, it must be true if it's on the "Interweb."
I rest my case.
