As for me, I "approve" comments before they are published not because I want to control the message. It's just an easy way to ensure that I'll respond to all of them.

I haven't seen much talk about "editing" comments in general, apart from removing profanity. But I wonder how many brands out there make sure that their company name or products are correctly spelled, hyphenated or capitalized, or that poor grammar is kept to a minimum especially when blogging with non-native speakers for example. I think there's a fine line between policing the content, as "the David" seems to be doing, and making sure the integrity of your brand and blog - in the business context - is maintained.

I did some more research today... Most bloggers seem ready to edit comments if they find grammatical or spelling mistakes, but I couldn't find anything about corporate approaches to editing comments.
