When will some people stop lamenting the fact that no one understands them, and realise that the real problem lies in them not understanding themselves.

When people start whining about not being understood, I usually think of the wise words of PJ O'Rourke: "The common denominator in all your failed relationships is you."
Unless it wasn't O'Rourke, in which case, the sentiment still applies (unattributed).
