Do not use this product:
- On children's sleepwear or garments labeled as flame resistant as it can reduce flame resistance.
- On garments made with fluffier fabrics containing cotton (such as fleece or terry cloth) as it may increase the flammability of these fabrics.

Not to sound like one of those radical green treehuggers, but putting vinegar (or baking soda, even, but not together) in your wash will do the trick.
Fabric softener is also really bad for the fair-skinned among us.
How much vinegar? The regular white kind, I imagine, as most people do not want to smell like balsamic all day.
Fabric softeners are also an asthma trigger for many people...and I believe I recall you saying you have a problem with that...Could the softener be aggravating it, I wonder??
1/4 cup. (And yes, I started a sentence with a number.)
Also, if you have a dishwasher, use vinegar instead of that Jet Dry stuff. Works like nobody's business, which, when you think about it, makes sense because you use vinegar to clean your mirrors.
Oh, and finally? Pour another 1/4 cup into your toilet about 30 minutes before you clean it. Then add baking soda and some essential oil. Sparkling, clean toilet bowl.
Not to mention that a nice vinegary sauce with pulled pork is just delightful as well.
That's fascinating, Jill - I had no idea. Where did you find out about that? My asthma is actually quite mild now, only triggered by pets. But I'm going to test the fabric softener thing. Just in case.
I was with you until the pulled pork thing, says the vegetarian.
Looks like I'll be buying some vinegar this week. I'll let you know how it goes.
Fabric softener makes me sick! I can smell it from the neighbor's dryer and even then it makes me a little woozy. I am not making this up. I think it has some bad chemicals in it.
E
It must have some *terrible* chemicals in it if it's affecting the flammability of clothing. And the perfumes they use are almost hallucinatory in potency.
I'm going to try Michel's suggestions.
